Fifty is the nickname of one of the G.I. Joe team's greenshirt recruits, Marine Corporal Eddie Shrote. New recruits are usually given joke nicknames until they earn their Joe codename, and Shrote's nickname came from all the push-ups Beach Head disciplined him with. Beach Head didn't seem to like any of the recruits, but he especially disliked Fifty, due to his smart mouth and questioning orders, as well as an unflattering imitation of Beach Head. After spending weeks of training, Fifty and his fellow "Alpha Team" recruits were sent on a training mission led by Beach Head into a war-torn country to fight a group of rebels. For that mission, Beach Head dropped the greenshirts' nicknames and referred to them only by number, much to their aggravation. Fifty became "Four". A battle erupted as the team tried to make it to an extraction chopper after rescuing "Three" (aka Heavy Fire). When Shrote's gun jammed during a firefight, Beach Head ordered him to do push-ups in the midst of the shooting. Beach Head was nearly left behind, but Fifty disobeyed his orders and went back to save him. Beach Head wasn't very grateful, and ordered him to "drop and give me fifty". Training Day
