Stinger Drivers are Cobra characters from the A Real American Hero series.

The original Cobra vehicle drivers can be described as a more professional lot than the many single specialty operators Cobra has today. You can expect them to be competent front-line fighters and commanders. The Stinger Drivers are pooled from Cobra Officers and also perform the same functions in addition to their armory and driving skills. They have to be. While their normally assigned vehicle is the Stinger, they are expected to be able to operate other vehicles in their armory and it takes a certain discipline to be able to master them all.

Which is which?

Because the Stinger Driver shares a uniform design with both the Cobra Officer and the Cobra Trooper, and because colors are not always consistent, it is often difficult to tell them all apart. The situation is compounded by the fact that many artists and colorists don't make much of an effort to distinguish between them in their design and rendering. We have to assume that a driver of a Stinger who has the common design is a Stinger Driver.

Action Force (British) Comics Continuity[]

Two Stinger Drivers were part of the Cobra team who sought to kidnap Ahmed Hassan, the first Ishmali ambassador to the United Kingdom, but actually captured a disguised Shipwreck. They fought off a rearguard Action Force rescue mission, but their vehicles were destroyed and the Drivers presumably killed by an A.W.E. Striker.[1] In a computer simulation of a nightmare of Flint's, Stingers were amongst the many Cobra vehicles who attacked him.[2] Stinger Drivers were also part of a Cobra team who attacked the Action Force Weapons Testing Range in Stonebury to steal secret plans.[3] Two drivers later accompanied Storm Shadow to an Asian jungle to recover a fallen satellite, only to be killed by Snake Eyes.[4] Later Stingers were deployed in the Australian outback to protect a Cobra base, but they were destroyed by an Action Force team using the H.A.V.O.C..[5]
