Updraft is a G.I. Joe character from the A Real American Hero series.

Updraft treats helicopters in the same way a man who owns a car do. He soups it up to his liking and he'll do it until he gets what he wants. His certification only involves flying helicopters, not designing them. And yet, his pushiness and hands-on approach eventually got him into getting the design team to accepting his suggestions. There is more to the story, however, that pretty much summed up how he got credit for the final design of the Joes' Retaliator helicopter.

His leadership style involves a way of getting what he wants which led to his team winning the World Helicopter Championship two years in a row. This same pushiness is what enables him to go into a hot landing zone despite the odds. You don't have to like him but you can thank him for taking your fat out of the fire.
