Freedom is an American bald eagle who was occasionally the companion of G.I. Joe team member, Spirit. Many observed that Spirit seemed to communicate with Freedom.

While in the High Sierras, an eagle alerted Spirit Iron-Knife to a blood trail, which let him know his friends were in trouble. He ran off to help, thanking his "brother eagle." The bird flew off but returned later to perch on Spirit Iron-Knife's shoulder once the danger was past.[1]
