General Stack is a one-star U.S. Army General. He is first seen in the Sunbow episode Battle for the Train of Gold. At the time of his first appearance, Stack served in the Army for 30 years and was in command of a fully mechanized infantry division stationed at Fort Knox.

As part of the installation's primary responsibility to safeguard the gold bullion depository, a Joe Team was assigned by Washington D.C.'s Bureau of Engraving and Printing to join the security detail. General Stack first received confirmation of this via a phone call by Washington, briefing him on the recent attack on the bureau by Cobra. At the conclusion of his phone call, General Stack was suddenly met by Duke whom he only acknowledged by his real name and enlisted rank as Sergeant Hauser. The general was initially resistant to the idea of the Joe Team joining base security. He guided Duke and the team on a brief tour of the installation to prove that its present security was top notch and did not require additional support from the Joes. Despite the general's argument, Duke insisted the team follow its orders to remain on base in case Cobra decided to strike. Because of Duke's insistence, the general became outraged, vowing to have Duke drastically demoted for what he believed to be insubordination. During his outrage, General Stack was abducted by Zartan's men. The general's uniform was taken as a disguise for Zartan who used it along with a mask resembling Stack. The imposter general then ordered the base's troops to leave their watch posts allowing for hidden Cobra soldiers to steal the gold. The real general was later found by Junkyard who alerted his owner Mutt to Stack's whereabouts. Both Mutt and Junkyard discovered the general being held under a trap door that hid an underground tunnel used by Cobra to transport the stolen gold to a bullet train.

After being rescued, General Stack was last seen shaking hands with Duke and apologizing for his previous attitude. He also expressed gratitude to a local rancher named Spencer Murphy who lent his horses to the Joe Team that aided in the successful recovery of the stolen gold from Cobra.

Trivia[]

  • During the episode the general only refers to Duke by his real name and enlisted rank. It is unclear if it is due to a blatant disregard for Joe codenames or if simply he personally knew Duke on a real name basis.
