Action Force (British) Comics continuity

During the Vietnam War Leatherneck served with the future Action Force members Gung-Ho, Roadblock and Wild Bill.[1]

Leatherneck was part of a team who tricked Tomax and Xamot into leading a team of B.A.T.s into Action Force's London base, both to test security and secure samples of B.A.T. technology.[2] He was then was one of many Action Force members deliberately sent to Rhodes to get them out of the country when Trent was being blackmailed by the Dreadnoks.[3] Subsquently he was part of an Action Force team sent to recover a Northrod B2 bomber crew who crashed on an island with top secret information,[4] then part of a mission to the Australian desert to stop Cobra launching an orbital weapons platform[5] and then part of a team who stopped Cobra obtaining a powerful laser driven by diamonds.[6] Leatherneck was then part of a team who travelled to Vietnam after Gung-Ho went in search of his former comrades.[7]

Leatherneck 1986 A Real American Hero (1986)

Leatherneck was first released as part of the 1986 series of A Real American Hero toys. He was also available in 1987 and was discontinued in 1988.


Appearance: black hair and mustache; green cap, shirt, and pants with brown "bird's foot" camouflage; beige vest with dark green pads; black belt, holsters

Accessories: small, light green backpack (with sculpted roll and canteen); grey M-16/203 rifle with grenade launcher.

Leatherneck v2 1986 Special Mission: Brazil (1986)

Leatherneck was released as part of the 1986 series, in the Toys "Я" Us exclusive "Special Mission: Brazil" boxed set. The boxed set also included Claymore, Dial-Tone, Mainframe, and Wet-Suit.


Appearance: brown hair and mustache; beige cap, shirt, and pants; brown vest with orange-brown pads; brown belt, holster

Accessories: small, light green backpack (with sculpted roll and canteen); grey M-16/203 rifle with grenade launcher.

Leatherneck 1993 A Real American Hero (1993)

Leatherneck was released in the 1993 series of A Real American Hero toys, as Battle Corps figure #11.


Appearance: olive green hat; black hair and mustache; brown jacket with yellow straps and light blue grenades; yellow and brown giraffe-pattern pants with yellow belt and brown boots

Accessories: black "Skydive" pistol; black "Mercer" submachine gun; black "Airwave" machine gun/grenade launcher; black "'91 Low-Light" sniper's rifle; black "Hit & Run" knife; orange "Gung-Ho" missile launcher and black missile.

  • All Leatherneck's proposed codenames were slang terms for a Marine: Gyrene, Semper-Fi, Jar-Head and Gunny. And of course, "Leatherneck" as well.
