Fiction

Animated continuity

Sunbow animated series

When Lt. Falcon was sent to the Slaughterhouse for irresponsible actions at G.I. Joe Headquarters, Mercer and his fellow Renegades were on hand to meet him. Because of a Cobra insignia on his vest, Mercer was initially mistaken for a Cobra by Falcon. Sgt. Slaughter had the Renegades train Falcon to be a better Joe. A mission came up where the Renegades had to infiltrate Cobra Island to find out what Cobra is planning. His knowledge of the island and layout of the Terror Drome proved invaluable. The group were able to escape with the knowledge of the existence of a group called Cobra-La. However, Mercer can't provide any more information as the intel was beyond him. Much later when more about Cobra-La is learned, he participated in the invasion of Cobra-La's domain.[1]
