Vapor is a Cobra character from the A Real American Hero series.

Very few Cobra pilots could ever achieve the level of notoriety that Wild Weasel has achieved. This, however, does not stop them from aspiring for a reputation as one of the organization's best pilots. One such pilot is Vapor. His flying skills are only on par with most average pilots. In order to get ahead of the competition, he has willingly let himself worked over with cybernetic components. By simply jacking in a cable to a shunt in his head, he can directly interface with the jet's onboard computers, giving him immediate data on enemy location and a quick lock on his target. His first-hit probability dramatically rises when using this ability. It does come at a price though, he would suffer excruciating headache and blurry vision as his brain attempts to keep up with the information overload.

Trivia

  • It was often a question whether the character of Vapor represented a type of Cobra trooper or a specific character. This is even more confounding due to the lack of any fiction depicting the character. G.I. Joe: America's Elite #25 included a backup feature that presented a threat matrix that the Joe Team faces. It indicated that Vapor was meant to be a unique character.
