Wilder Vaughn is the leader of the Red Shadows in the Devil's Due Comics Continuity of GI Joe. He was a former acquaintance of General Joseph Colton during the Vietnam War having formerly served in the British Military during that war. Vaughn set out to eliminate both GI Joe and COBRA after the Joes used a tactical nuke on Cobra Island.

Wilder Vaughn was sent on a UN sponsored with General Colton to take and enemy stronghold in Vietnam, only for the town to be a civilian zone the UN wanted eliminated to decrease enemy morale. Vaughn showed his ruthlessness on the mission which had frightened Colton. Years later Vaughn and Colton crossed paths again, this time Vaughn had attempted to kill Colton because GI Joe had ordered a tactical nuclear strike on Cobra Island.
