Rise of Cobra (2009 Movie)
- Portrayed by Arnold Vosloo.
Zartan appears as James McCullen's personal aide and assassin. He participated in the attack of the Pit by impersonating a MP and although suspected by Cover Girl, remained undetected. During the attack he killed Cover Girl by stabbing her in the back only to have her cover the General as Hawk punched him in the face. After Storm Shadow incapacitates the General, Zartan was watching the corridors for any more guards. He escaped the Pit by killing a traveler and stealing his clothes. He was later injected with nanomites by the Doctor but without the mind control elements which he quickly broke away from the machine so he could keep his free will. This injection allows him to change his physical appearance. During the final battle, using the missiles crisis as a cover, Zartan is sent to America where he infiltrates the White House and assumes the identity of the President of the United States as part of Cobra's plans for world domination. He also has an uncanny habit of studying people so that, if he needs to impersonate them, he does a believable job, save for his constant whistling of the "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow" which he does at the end of the film when he has taken the place of the President, confirming his identity.
Personality
Zartan was a master of disguise but he had a habit of whistling "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow". He didn't hesitate to kill Cover Girl during the attack on the Pit though he later said that Storm Shadow doesn't kill women. The ninja replied that for him he would make an exception. Zartan was confident and claimed that he was born ready when he was injected with nanomites, though he also said that he wanted to control his own mind.
